Cookies Policy

What cookies Colour Index uses, why, and how to manage them. The strictly-necessary set, analytics opt-in, and third-party cookies in the checkout flow.

Draft template — Society of Dyers and Colourists to confirm before launch. The cookie inventory below reflects the current production build. The SDC should confirm the analytics provider choice and finalise the opt-in mechanism before this notice becomes binding.

Colour Index International uses a small number of cookies to keep the Service running and to measure aggregate usage. This policy explains what each cookie does and how to control them. It supplements the main Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies let the site recognise you between page loads — for example, to keep you signed in — and let us measure aggregate behaviour (which pages get used, where users abandon a workflow). Browsers expose controls to view, restrict, and delete cookies on a per-site basis.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled if you want to sign in or maintain a session across pages. They carry no marketing payload and no third-party tracking identifiers.

  • sb-access-token — identifies your authenticated session. Expires when you sign out, or after one hour of inactivity.
  • sb-refresh-token — allows your session to be silently renewed within its lifetime. Expires after fourteen days.
  • ci-csrf — defends against cross-site request forgery on form submissions. Expires when you close the browser.

Analytics cookies

We measure aggregate page-view counts (which sections of the database are used, search abandonment, broken-link reports) so we can prioritise improvements. The analytics provider does not receive personally-identifying information. These cookies are opt-in: the first time you visit the site you will see a consent banner; analytics cookies are not set unless you accept.

  • ci-analytics — a random pseudonymous identifier used to deduplicate page views from the same browser. Expires after twelve months.

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer or by clearing this cookie from your browser.

Third-party cookies

When you complete a payment, our payment provider (Stripe) may set its own cookies on the checkout page for fraud-prevention and compliance purposes. These cookies are governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy. Colour Index International does not embed third-party advertising, social-media, or marketing pixels of any kind.

Managing cookies

Every modern browser lets you clear or block cookies on a per-site basis. See aboutcookies.org for instructions for the major browsers. Note that blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in.
