Frequently asked

What's the difference between Part 1 and Part 2?

The Colour Index is published as two halves of the same corpus. Part 1 covers Pigments and Solvent Dyes; Part 2 covers Dyes and Related Products (textile auxiliaries and dye-related substances). Subscribers who only work with one side of the catalogue can buy just that half at £280/year; Full access bundles both at £425/year.

How are seats counted?

Seats are active users in your organisation. The first seat is included in the base price; additional users are £37/year on every tier except Universities, where additional seats are £7/year as part of the SDC charity’s educational discount.

Who is the Universities tier for?

Universities is verified education only — typically degree-awarding institutions and accredited research institutes. The reduced per-seat fee reflects the SDC’s registered-charity remit to support textile + colour education.

How do I upgrade from Part 1 / Part 2 to Full access?

Contact us and we’ll prorate the upgrade to the remainder of your current term. There’s no penalty and your saved collections move with you.

Can my colleagues join my existing subscription?

Yes — your account admin invites colleagues from /account/team; each colleague counts as one additional seat at the rate for your tier.

What happens when the subscription ends?

Access lapses on the renewal date. Your saved collections + history remain attached to your account; you can re-subscribe at any time and pick back up where you left off.
